Do they really work?
Yes. In fact, our cleaners were originally born from a need for quick and effective, non-toxic cleaners for cleaning professionals (one of our founders once owned a cleaning business). We started with vinegar (complaints ensued from homeowners who don’t like the smell of vinegar), to catalogue cleaners to beginning iterations of homemade cleaners. Stumbling upon the amazing world of therapeutic grade essential oils changed everything. They smelled fantastic, they offered benefits of being naturally anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-septic, and so on, and they provided both mood and immune boosting benefits. One cleaning company marveled at how long just one bottle, which replaced 6 of their cleaners, lasted. Additionally, our customers share their positive results of ‘unsanctioned’ uses of the products, like restoring a silver tea set that was damaged in a fire. Or cleaning muddy dog paws after a walk in the rain. Or defunktifying hockey equipment.

These aren’t your “mama’s cleaners”, the ones that required plenty of ventilation and latex gloves to get the job done. They’re more like your grandma’s cleaners, and quite honestly, we make them just like Grandma did... by hand! We’ve combined tried and true natural, food-grade ingredients with therapeutic-grade essential oils and water to achieve powerful cleansers that smell great, promote wellness and are manufactured in a way (the artisan way) that is sustainable to the earth.

Do they kill germs?
Yes. Most essential oils are anti-bacterial, anti-septic and anti-fungal (like products you’d find in your medicine cabinet).  And with the right dilution, the right combination of oils, and with 15 years combined experience in aromatherapy and microbiology, we’ve made them quite effective.  
And their safe. Because our ingredients are ALL NATURAL, they’re safe to use on your skin (as an alternative to alcohol-based hand sanitizers).

What’s in them?
While what’s in them is important, what’s NOT in them is equally important...

What is:  Ingredients that you already know, can easily pronounce and most likely can be found in your kitchen pantry.  Such as:  purified and carbonated water, baking soda and sea salt. Citric acid also is an ingredient in our products as a natural preservative and effective cleaning agent (great on grease and hard water stains) – you may not have it in your pantry right now, but it is derived from citrus fruit and ours is purchased from a food/baking company, so it is designed for consumption.

Our essential oils are pure and pressed straight from the plant. A special distillation process yields an oil that smells wonderful (as nature intended) but isn’t oily, so our products can be used on fabric. Organic castile soap, a vegetable-based surfactant, gives our cleansers more scrubbing power and has less ecological impact, and less impact on our health, than petroleum-based surfactants.

What isn’t:  Colors, dyes, or additional fragrances – all of which add stressors to our nervous system.  
Additionally, corn and soy are not used in our products or in our packaging. And the more

devastating ingredients which are known carcinogens, endocrine disrupters or reproductive toxins, many of which are not listed on some cleaners: ammonia, 2-butoxyethanol/ ethylene glycol butyl ether, ethoxylated no
nyl phenois (NPEs), methylene chloride, naphthalene, silica, toluene, trisodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA), xylene, bleach (sodium hypochlorite), phosphates. Spell check went crazy. No squiggles under our ‘what is’ list.

So…what’s the Bliss in every bottle?
Internationally renowned Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto discovered that molecules of water are affected by thoughts, words and feelings. He tested this using frozen water crystals exposed to words wrapped around glass jars, spoken words, different types of music, prayers and electromagnetic waves from television, computers, microwaves, and cell phones. Prayers and words such as “thank you,” and “I love you” produced beautiful snowflake-like crystals while words such as “you fool,” and heavy metal rock that expressed anger produced malformed and fragmented crystals. He demonstrated how water has the ability to copy and memorize information that it receives (which is the basis of homeopathy) and he documented his findings with photographs and scientific evidence. In his book, The Hidden Messages in Water, Emoto says, “The lesson that we can learn from this experiment has to do with the power of words. The vibration of good words has a positive effect on our world, whereas the vibration from negative words has the power to destroy.”  

Our mission is Bliss. We use food grade ingredients like sea salt, baking soda and citric acid. We use organic castile soap- the cleanest soap you can get. Because basic safety is important. We use therapeutic grade essential oils that use the olfactory system (sense of smell) to help boost the immune system & boost mood, smell great, and are naturally anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. We use our knowledge of chemistry, aromatherapy as well as trial and error, to make effective products, because effective is an important part of bliss. We also infuse what we call bliss, or sound vibration (through yogic chant)  during the manufacturing process to enhance the overall experience of connecting with your space, which we like to call homecaring. Our full mission: to change the way you experience cleaning. In yoga speak, we bring the OM into hOMe.

I don’t clean. I hate to clean. How is this going to make me want to clean?
If you have a cleaning lady, we hope that you do pick up a sprayer every now and then between visits to wipe off your countertop or a spill. Outside of that...

We believe that if cleaning the top of your desk at work, or the nightstand next to your bed makes you happy, call it a day!  Don’t worry that the laundry isn’t folded or that the kitchen is a mess.  Similarly, if you’re cleaning because you HAVE to, and that is to say if it is an activity based out of pure OBLIGATION, it won’t matter if you use our product or the traditional products, because there is no bliss in obligation.

Try to shed all those external standards of cleaning. Throw out the white gloves (and the latex ones too). Just remember what spaces (in your home or your workplace) make you feel happy. Cozy. Productive. Loved. And then take care of them as you see fit, when you see fit. If you can transition your cleaning experiences into willing ones, then our pure, aroma-therapeutic cleansers can enhance those experiences.

I use other name brand cleaners that are green. What’s the difference?
It ain’t easy being green. Or even understanding green. Green doesn’t always mean ‘healthy.’ Green might mean it’s good for the planet, but it doesn’t always mean it’s good for you.  Blissful Home’s products have medicinal and therapeutic qualities, so using them is not only not harmful; it is beneficial (see question/answer below for more details.)

How does Blissful Home products promote wellness? How are they therapeutic?
Our essential oils are the very same oils used for medicinal purposes to treat illnesses such as cold & flu, depression, viral infections and even athlete’s foot. And while we’re suggesting the primary purpose of these products is for cleaning up your home and office (and school and car and any other space you occupy that needs it), there are wellness benefits from using these products.

The clinical aroma-therapeutic properties of Blissful Home’s essential oils have positive effects, through inhalation, both on the respiratory system and the nervous system.  Just spraying – and inhaling – allows your lungs and brain to get a dose of goodness.
